Office of Unemployment Insurance

    The Employment and Training Administration's (ETA’s) Office of Unemployment Insurance (OUI) provides leadership, direction, and assistance to state workforce agencies in the implementation and administration of state unemployment insurance (UI) programs, federal unemployment compensation programs, and other wage-loss, worker dislocation and adjustment assistance compensation programs.

    OUI supports strategies at improving program performance, promoting fraud prevention and program integrity, greater public accountability, and enhanced service quality, and customer experience regarding the UI programs. OUI works collaboratively with its partners in ETA’s Regional Offices and stakeholders in business, labor, and state governments by providing oversight, guidance, and technical assistance for the federal-state unemployment compensation system and providing budget and legislative support to state workforce agencies in the administration of UI programs and assisting individuals timely return to suitable work.
